01 / TRAVEL NOTES

Choose your skiing and starting point

North and south are different entrances

The north side is the former Nekoma ski area; the south is the former Alts Bandai. A mountain connecting lift joins them as today’s Nekoma Mountain. Hotels, buses and parking depend on the side you enter. Decide how you will arrive and return before planning a traverse.

Choose snow and slopes on each side

The north benefits from elevation and north-facing slopes. Across both sides are gentle terrain, long runs, steep slopes, moguls and ungroomed choices. Match the day to your skills and the snow. Have a plan to remain on your starting side when the connecting lift is not operating.

Build up gradually in the parks

Progressive parks offer options from first attempts to experienced practice. Park features and tree-run openings depend on local rules and the day’s notices. Combine ordinary runs, lessons and breaks before extending your day.
