Choose your skiing and starting point
Start with the marked runs
Geto is known for heavy snowfall, but a trip need not revolve around powder. A5 offers beginner terrain, A1 follows the ridge on a long cruise, and A6 has mountain views when the weather clears. Fresh snow can make footing and visibility more demanding. Check the signs and lift status, and leave time for lessons and breaks.
Choose tree runs by ability and conditions
The tree-run areas have separate difficulty levels. Trees, gullies, tree wells and cornices bring hazards beyond those of groomed runs. Entry conditions include wearing a helmet, and patrol must check the areas before opening them. Level 1 does not mean a beginner piste. Assess your deep-snow skills and ask about the official guiding programme if needed.
Stay on the mountain or in Kitakami
Private rooms at Premium Stay Gou and resort dormitories shorten the morning journey. Staying around Kitakami Station makes town dining and Shinkansen connections easier. Accommodation in the Geto Kogen onsen area is another option if bathing matters as much as skiing. Compare facilities, meals and shuttle stops before choosing.
