01 / TRAVEL NOTES

Out of the city, into two ski zones.

For first turns and practice with children, consider Olympia’s larger choice of beginner courses. Highland also has the beginner Natural run, but choose your lesson meeting point before committing to a long descent.

The official 15 courses combine seven at Highland and eight at Olympia. The 16,430m figure is the sum of course lengths, separate from the longest continuous ski route.

The longest route is described officially as approximately 6km: Natural, 4,000m, plus Rainbow, 1,700m. Those individual lengths total 5,700m; there is no single 6,000m course. Choose it for your stamina and the day’s snow.

Kitakabe is 1,500m with a maximum 36° pitch, rated expert. Olympia also includes the 38° Seikadai Ocean Dive. Choose specific courses from the map and daily opening information rather than judging by zone name alone.
