A village onsen after skiing
The outdoor bath has mountain views when the weather allows. Make the visit about time in the water, rather than expecting the same clear panorama as a photograph.
02 / TRAVEL NOTES
From the gondola to the bath
Official estimates are about 10 minutes on foot from the Happo-one gondola boarding point and 5 minutes by car from Hakuba Station. Allow extra for snowy paths, ski boots and equipment, and arrange the journey from the bath to your station or hotel. This winter’s last bus and walking time in snow remain unverified.
The facility-specific Happo-no-Yu page lists 10:00–21:00, with last admission at 20:30. Tax-inclusive entry is ¥1,000 for junior-high-school ages and above, ¥600 for primary-school children, and ¥400 from age 3 to preschool. It lists a towel at ¥300 or a large-and-small rental set at ¥600. The shared FAQ still shows different towel prices; confirm towel charges and any temporary closure with the facility before visiting.
The official FAQ permits visitors with tattoos and does not allow swimsuits in the baths. These are Happo-no-Yu’s visiting rules; do not assume they apply to another hotel or bath.
Bring a towel, clean clothes and a bag for wet items.
Check the 20:30 admission cutoff separately from your return transport.
Ask about the conflicting towel prices. Swimsuits cannot be worn in the baths.
