2026–2027Winter operating plans
This is a guide to the ten ski areas of Hakuba Valley. Happo-One figures on this page are not totals for the valley.
Dates for the 2026–2027 ski season have not yet been verified in this guide. Check the operator’s announcement before choosing your travel dates.
These are seasonal plans, not live slope or lift status. Snow and weather can change the dates and the terrain available.
Check the season and update time on the linked page. Snow and lift reports from a previous season may remain online.
01 / TRAVEL NOTES
Choose your terrain
Ten ski areas across one valley
HAKUBA VALLEY covers ten ski areas across Omachi, Hakuba and Otari. Happo-one, Goryu and Hakuba47, Iwatake, Tsugaike and Norikura–Cortina differ in terrain and atmosphere. Start by choosing the skiing you want, then the place to stay. A shared lift pass broadens your choices, but most journeys between resorts are by car or shuttle.
Choose a mountain for your group
Happo-one offers long descents and varied slopes; Tsugaike’s Kane-no-naru-oka has broad practice terrain. Goryu and Hakuba47 offer options for groups with different abilities. Their upper slopes connect, but this does not apply to every resort in the valley. Beginners should identify gentle runs and a manageable return route on each mountain’s map.
Plan the evening as carefully as the skiing
Happo, Wadano, Echoland and Tsugaike have different hotel and restaurant locations. On a longer stay, leave time for a café, Happo’s hot springs or the ski jump stadium. Dinner and craft beer in the village still need a way home: check snowy-road walking distances, evening transport and restaurant reservations.
Course counts are for the single ski area stated. Check the official information for the day, including closures and areas that are not operating.
These are not totals for the whole Hakuba area. They cover Happo-one's 16 courses, longest run of 8,000 m and total course length of 23,300 m. Choose the ski area first, then decide the hotel and transport.

Approx. 80 min · Bus + walk
About 70 minutes by bus to Happo Bus Terminal as described by Hakuba Village, then about 10 minutes on foot. Allow extra time for waiting for the bus and changing. Other Hakuba ski areas have different arrival points.
The HAKUBA VALLEY pass does not turn ten resorts into one continuous ski area. It gives flexibility to choose the day’s destination, but start with the terrain you want to ski at one resort, then choose accommodation and transport around it.
Check daily lift operations, official difficulty ratings and the return route. A beginner-friendly description does not make every run suitable for a beginner.

01 / HAPPO-ONE
Hakuba Happo-one
For long descents and the moguls of Usagidaira and Kurobishi.
Courses
16
Longest run
8,000 m
The operator lists 16 courses at Happo-one alone. The 8,000 m maximum links Riesen Grat, Kurobishi, Skyline and Sakka; it is not the length of Skyline alone. · Checked 2026-10-11
Terrain & skiing
Choose between Riesen Slalom’s intermediate groomers, Usagidaira and Kurobishi moguls, and Panorama with its bypasses. Check which runs are open and groomed that morning.
Beginners & families
Start by asking about Sakka’s broad practice terrain or Nakiyama. Shirakaba has a steeper lower section; the full descent from the gondola is not uniformly beginner terrain.
Arrival base
Adam Plaza at the gondola, Sakka, Nakiyama and Kokusai are separate entrances. Specify the lesson meeting point and return pickup, even when staying in Wadano.
Stay, bath & dinner
Hakuba Tokyu Hotel and La Neige in Wadano, plus Happo-no-Yu, are nearby stay options to compare. Plan the snowy walk or transfer home after dinner.

02 / GORYU
ABLE Hakuba Goryu
Practice at Toomi or Iimori, then explore Alps Daira.
Courses
Not verified
Longest run
5,000 m
Goryu’s individual course count remains inconsistent: VALLEY lists 15, while the current operator guide names 16 entries. The joint 24 includes 47. VALLEY lists 5,000 m for Goryu alone; the linked route name is unconfirmed. · Checked 2026-10-11
Terrain & skiing
Alps Daira has mountain slopes and ungroomed terrain; Toomi and Iimori have practice areas. The upper link to 47 depends on connecting lifts operating.
Beginners & families
Choose lower Toomi or Iimori terrain first. Champion Dynamic has no bypass and the operator recommends beginners descend by gondola. Narrow Woody is now rated intermediate.
Arrival base
Escal Plaza serves Toomi and the Telecabin; Iimori Base Center is a separate entrance for Iimori lessons. Match your arrival point to equipment pickup and return.
Stay, bath & dinner
Courtyard’s official driving estimate is 15 minutes. Ski-day transport is separate from its station transfer. Arrange the return before dining in Misorano or Echoland.

03 / HAKUBA47
Hakuba47 Winter Sports Park
Compare groomed R1, moguls and the terrain park.
Courses
8
Longest run
6,400 m
There are eight numbered routes, R1–R8. The operator’s 6,400 m maximum can be interpreted as linked R8 (2,800 m) and R7 (3,600 m), using the route descriptions and distances. It is not one named trail. · Checked 2026-10-11
Terrain & skiing
R1 is a 2.5 km intermediate groomer, R3 has ungroomed moguls up to 32°, and R4 is the park. Tree Riding Zone procedures are separate from ordinary trail access.
Beginners & families
Mid-mountain R5 and R6 offer practice options. Gentle R7 is long and narrows in places; ask about a manageable descent and the lesson meeting point before going up.
Arrival base
Arrive at 47’s Line8 gondola base, separately from Goryu’s Escal Plaza or Iimori. When crossing between resorts, plan equipment return and the last connecting lift.
Stay, bath & dinner
Courtyard quotes about 15 minutes by car. Compare dinner options around Echoland after arranging transport between your hotel and the correct resort base.

04 / TSUGAIKE
Tsugaike Mountain Resort
Broad gentle slopes for a family’s first ski days.
Courses
10
Longest run
5,000 m
The current operator winter page lists 10 courses and a 5,000 m longest linked descent. Do not combine VALLEY’s 11 or older documents’ 14. Han-no-ki’s individual 3,000 m run is a separate measurement. · Checked 2026-10-11
Terrain & skiing
Explore long Han-no-ki, groomed Shirakaba, or steeper Umanose and Champion. TSUGAPOW DBD is a separate area requiring a lecture and authorization.
Beginners & families
Kane-no-naruoka exceeds 1,200 m in width with an average 8° slope. Karamatsu and Oya-no-hara reach 10°, averaging 7°. Beginner-rated Gotenba includes undulations up to 30°; ratings alone are not enough.
Arrival base
The Eve gondola and central parking are different starting points from accommodation around Kane-no-naruoka. Decide between staying in Otari and travelling from central Hakuba.
Stay, bath & dinner
The listed central-Hakuba hotels are not slopeside here. Courtyard quotes about 30 minutes by car. Check winter travel both ways before planning dinner in Happo or Echoland.

05 / IWATAKE
Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field
Choose upper slopes with winter mountain views.
Courses
13
Longest run
Not verified
VALLEY lists 13 courses for Iwatake. The operator lists Sunny Valley at 3,300 m, while its winter homepage mentions 5 km without a resolved route scope. The longest-run field remains unconfirmed. · Checked 2026-10-11
Terrain & skiing
Upper terrain includes varied Back Bowl slopes and wooded runs. Consult the course table and that day’s operations for open boundaries and grooming.
Beginners & families
Beginners can ask about upper practice terrain reached by gondola. Sunny Valley is rated level 5 in the current operator table; do not assume first-timers can ski all the way down. Check gondola descent.
Arrival base
Specify the Iwatake gondola base and central parking. Shinden or Kirikubo bus stops for accommodation are not automatically the gondola doorstep.
Stay, bath & dinner
Courtyard’s driving estimate is 15 minutes. For non-skiing companions, check winter facilities and a meeting place; sightseeing gondola tickets and ski passes are separate choices.
Goryu plans to open on 2026-11-21, limited to the Toomi No.1 Lift area on the first day. This is not 47’s opening or a valley-wide start. Full-season dates for the other four resorts and Goryu’s closing remain unconfirmed. Pass periods and older maps do not guarantee all runs are open.
