01 / TRAVEL NOTES

Two springs, one inn

Kawaichiya uses two springs, Shinyu and Ogama. Leave an unhurried stretch for bathing at the inn between skiing and dinner, as well as time for the village’s public baths.

Base
Nozawa Onsen village
Slope access
Choose the Hikage or Nagasaka meeting point before asking about transport. An inn shuttle is unverified.
Rooms
Distinguish Shinano-tei onsen rooms from standard rooms. Compare indoor or open-air baths, bedding and bathroom facilities individually.
Baths & facilities
The communal outdoor bath uses Shinyu; the indoor bath uses the same source as Ogama. Not every room has a private onsen.
Transport
Iiyama Station to the village, then the inn. Do not use the inn’s old 2018–19 timetable for the coming winter.
02 / TRAVEL NOTES

A Shinano-tei onsen bath or a standard room

Shinano-tei is the room category with onsen baths. Indoor or open-air facilities differ by room, so compare the exact name and equipment. Do not assume that standard rooms have the same bath.

Standard accommodation includes Japanese and Japanese-Western rooms, with some having no in-room bath. Some rooms use futons for guests beyond the number of beds; check everyone’s bedding and the capacity on the booking page.

03 / TRAVEL NOTES

The inn’s open-air and indoor baths are another choice

The official guide describes the communal outdoor bath as fed directly by Shinyu and the indoor bath as using the same source as Ogama with circulation and filtration. Two springs and communal baths do not mean every bedroom has a private onsen.

Day-visitor eligibility, private-bath availability and bathing hours are unverified in this guide. Contact the inn before planning to bathe without an overnight stay.

04 / TRAVEL NOTES

Dinner at the inn or an evening in the village

The official dining guide introduces wagyu and river-fish dinner options and breakfast with Nozawa-grown rice. These dishes are not all included with every booking. Check breakfast-only versus dinner-inclusive plans, including children’s meals.

Discuss allergies before booking. The inn does not guarantee allergen removal, so confirm what can be accommodated individually. With dinner included, plan your post-ski bath and journey around the meal time.

06 / TRAVEL NOTES

Check the room, meals and snowy journey

After reaching the village from Iiyama Station, check the final route from the stop. The inn’s access page includes a 2018–19 bus timetable and fares; do not use these for 2026–27. Follow the current official links in the shared transport guide.

The official site directs winter stays from December 15 onwards to its online booking system, not telephone bookings. An inn shuttle is unverified. Ask about reaching your specific Hikage or Nagasaka meeting point and handling luggage.

  • Match the exact room, onsen bath and bedding for every guest.
  • Confirm meals, allergy arrangements and arrival time.
  • Read winter booking instructions and cancellation terms on the official booking page.
