2026–2027Winter operating plans
Published course counts describe the facility, not the number of runs open on your visit.
Dates for the 2026–2027 ski season have not yet been verified in this guide. Check the operator’s announcement before choosing your travel dates.
These are seasonal plans, not live slope or lift status. Snow and weather can change the dates and the terrain available.

01 / TRAVEL NOTES
Choose your terrain
Yamabiko | Five courses near the summit
This upper sector sits between 1,366 and 1,650 m. The official map lists five named courses, A to E, each up to 1,300 m, for intermediate and advanced skiers. These are individual runs, not the resort’s 10,000 m longest linked route. Beginners should check the gondola download option and operating times before heading up.
Skyline | Follow the ridge for 4.5 km
This 4,500 m intermediate-to-advanced run descends from the summit along the ridge toward Nagasaka and Karasawa. The first roughly 300 m is narrow, and a steep, ungroomed-snow area lies lower down. If your group splits by ability, agree on a meeting point and return route first.
Uenotaira & Paradise | Warm up on gentle slopes
These broad, mellow areas suit relaxed practice and family laps. Uenotaira reaches 2,000 m in length at 1,220–1,410 m elevation; Paradise reaches 1,200 m at 1,075–1,230 m. They are separate areas with separate published figures, not one continuous beginner run.
Hikage | Start near lessons and children’s facilities
Yu Road connects the village with Hikage, where the ski school’s main reception and children’s facilities are located. Confirm the lesson meeting point, age requirements and daily operations before making it your family’s morning base.
Karasawa | Begin on a wide, easy slope
Karasawa’s beginner course is 3,000 m long with an average gradient of 8°. It is close to the No. 2 car park; a connector pair lift links the area to the Nagasaka Gondola. The car park and gondola are separate arrival points, so check where to leave the car and board.
Course counts are for the single ski area stated. Check the official information for the day, including closures and areas that are not operating.
43 is the official total for courses and slopes. The longest run of 10,000 m and the length of a single course such as Skyline are listed separately.

Iiyama Station → Nozawa Onsen (onsen town)
Approx. 25 min · Nozawa Onsen Liner
This is the time to the onsen town. Getting to a ski entrance requires a further journey, on foot, by shuttle or by Yu Road, depending on where you stay.
Choose your first entrance and afternoon meeting place
Yu Road and the village shuttle are different ways to travel. The official shuttle page records the end of 2025–26 services; 2026–27 trips and last buses are unverified. Do not use summer Yu Road hours as winter hours; check operations for your day.
Lesson day: distinguish Hikage from Nagasaka
Confirm your booked school’s meeting point and the shop where you collect rentals. Hikage has the main ski-school office and children’s facilities; the resort-operated rental shop is in Nagasaka Center House. Lessons do not all meet at one place. Give your inn the exact facility name and ask about the snowy walk with equipment.
A day up high: agree where you will return
For Uenotaira or Paradise, consider Panorama House Buna for lunch. Agree on a specific entrance and time to meet, not just the restaurant name. Decide whether to return to Hikage, Nagasaka or Karasawa. If energy or visibility becomes a concern, check that day whether you can descend by gondola and when it stops.
Back in the village: leave your skis, then bathe and eat
Leave equipment at your inn before visiting public baths or soba restaurants. Oyu and Furusato-no-Yu have different facilities and packing needs. If dinner is included at your inn, plan your return around the meal; agree a village meeting point for skiers and anyone spending the day off the slopes.

Oogama
Beyond the steam, the village kitchen. Visit Ogama to see how hot-spring water is woven into daily life.
Take the bus from Iiyama Station to Nozawa Onsen. Allow separately for the walk from the stop to your inn and the journey to the ski entrance the following morning. Check Yu Road’s operating hours if using it, and ask your accommodation for the best route on snowy days.
