JR bus from Shin-Aomori/Aomori Station

Take the Shinkansen to Shin-Aomori and check the JR bus Tohoku for Hakkoda. There is also a route from Aomori Station to the ropeway station. In the winter, the route is usually to Sukayu due to road closures, so avoid using the summer itinerary that goes all the way to Lake Towada.

Arrange transportation from your hotel or taxi

For hotels such as Hakkoda Hotel and Sukayu, check the shuttle information for each hotel. Pick-up from the station and transportation to the ropeway are separate, so please inquire about who is eligible, reservations, and operating times. If you plan to take a taxi from the airport, consult with them in advance and let them know the amount of luggage you have and the road route in winter.

Check for winter closures and nighttime restrictions for cars.

There are routes such as National Route 103 towards Aomori and National Route 394 via Jogakura Bridge towards Kuroishi. During the snowy season, roads that can be used may change due to road closures or night restrictions, so check the prefecture's road information and the guide for the day. In case of stormy weather, do not force yourself to cross the mountain; instead, discuss your arrival time with your accommodation.
