The name Komako no Yu comes from a character in Yasunari Kawabata's novel ``Snow Country.'' It is equipped with a partitioned washing area, and there are also exhibits related to the snow country. This communal bath is different from a large resort spa, and is suitable for days when you want to visit the local hot springs after skiing.
The guide to the prefecture and facilities suggests a 20-minute walk from Echigo-Yuzawa Station. This is not a bathing facility directly connected to the station. Consider the burden of carrying snow and equipment, and decide whether to leave your luggage at your accommodation before heading out, or to use a car or taxi.
Parking is also provided, but it may take some time to get there due to congestion or snowfall. If you are planning to catch the return train, allow extra time for bathing, changing clothes, and getting to the station.
Information on temporary closures for repairs, etc. will also be posted on the facility's official page. Don't make decisions based on regular holidays, check the notices before going out. The usage status of the rest room varies depending on the guidance, so please check with the facility if you plan to take a long break.
