GALA Yuzawa
Step off the Shinkansen into the ski centre, for a day trip or a weekend with Yuzawa’s hot springs.
Read the guideStay after skiing for hot springs, meals and literary history.

On a hillside above Yuzawa, Takahan combines naturally emerging Tamago no Yu hot springs with displays associated with Yasunari Kawabata. Stay after skiing to leave time for bathing, meals and the literary setting of Snow Country.
The Kasumi no Ma literary display is open to overnight guests only. Plan it as part of a stay, rather than as a public walk-in attraction.
Compare Japanese-style room size, bedding and views alongside dinner-and-breakfast, breakfast-only or room-only terms. Ginrei rooms with open-air baths are a specific category; not every room has its own outdoor hot-spring bath. Match photographs to the named room and check meal arrangements against your arrival time.
Communal baths and room bathrooms are separate facilities. The official site currently says day bathing is not operating, so do not plan to enter without a stay. Check bathing hours, cleaning and rules for children. In winter, the communal outdoor baths use circulation and heating; do not describe every bath as unheated and non-circulating year-round.
Overnight guests arriving by train should telephone after reaching Echigo-Yuzawa Station. The official meeting point is near the west-exit taxi rank, and pickup times cannot be reserved in advance. Transfers to GALA Yuzawa and Yuzawa Kogen are separately described: tell reception your departure time and telephone for the return pickup. Do not assume the same service reaches Kagura or Naeba. Confirm this winter’s availability, times and drop-off point with the inn.
The building has steps and stairs and is not fully accessible. An elevator alone does not establish a step-free route: discuss the paths to your room, dining area and baths before booking.
Match the room name, party size, bedding and meals to the offer you book. Check live availability, rates and cancellation terms with the hotel. Some linked pages are in Japanese.
