01 / TRAVEL NOTES

Make the meal part of the trip

MeDeau is the French restaurant at Hakkoda Hotel, surrounded by beech forest. Choose a day with time for a meal and the journey to the hotel, rather than a short break between ski runs.

Its name comes from the Aomori expression “うめーどー” (ume-do). Dishes vary with the season and available ingredients. Official photographs show the style of dining; they do not guarantee that the pictured course will be served in winter.

02 / TRAVEL NOTES

Reserve a lunch table ahead

The official lunch notice requires a reservation by 17:00 on the previous day. Lunch hours are 11:30–13:30, with last orders at 13:00. Courses, beef curry and clubhouse sandwiches are listed, but group bookings or private events may limit availability. Confirm your date and party size directly with the hotel.

Discuss allergies and dietary requirements when booking; the hotel says it may not be able to accommodate every request. Its bath and reserved-shuttle offer for set-meal or course diners is not a benefit for every lunch guest or accommodation plan. Check eligibility, costs and booking conditions. An undated service notice does not guarantee operation for this winter.

03 / TRAVEL NOTES

French dining or a Japanese dinner

French dinner is served at MeDeau; Japanese dining is at the separate Shakomizu (寒水) restaurant. Check the accommodation plan for meal inclusion, venue and menu. For a later dinner, consider the return journey or staying at the hotel.

Don't confuse MeDeau with the restaurants at the ropeway station or the eateries around the Hakkoda Kokusai ski area. This is the restaurant inside Hakkoda Hotel. When looking for routes in winter, use the hotel name as your destination and read information about road regulations.
